Searching
How do I find a particular photograph?
To find photographs from a particular country or region use the category index on the left. Countries with significant representation are listed separately beneath a region.
To locate photographs on a particular subject or issue enter keywords into the main Search box above. To further narrow down you can also search within a selected group of photographs.
Keyword searches can be further refined by selecting form the drop-down menu next to the Search box:
Match All Terms will only find photographs which are associated with all the search terms ie: UK Children will return only photographs where both these terms are recorded as keywords
Match Any Terms will show photographs where either UK or Children is keyworded, so will generally return both a much larger and less specific number of photographs.
Match Photo ID enables you to find a specific photographs if you have the unique Photo ID.
How do I view larger versions of the thumbnails?
Hovering over a thumbnail brings up a preview which does not have a watermark. Clicking on a thumbnail brings up a larger view which can then be further enlarged. Account holders can create lightboxes, download high resolution files (subject to reproduction fee) and for reference only email low res photographs to colleagues. A Photo Wall is offered on selected galleries.
Do you add photos on a regular basis? Yes. Photographs are added regularly. Click on "Newest Photos" to see the latest photos that have been uploaded. Photographs in individual galleries appear with those added most recently appearing first.
